MARN stands in solidarity with our Asian American and Pacific Islander community members. We mourn together in the face of another violent act of white supremacy and call on our whole community to join us in supporting our AAPI neighbors and friends. There is no place for the racism, xenophobia, and misogyny that has been continuously targeted at AAPI.
Here are few local AAPI organizations you can support to take action now:
- Hmong American Women’s Association
www.hawamke.org - Milwaukee Chinese Community Center
www.milwaukeechinese.org - Japanese American Citizens League – WI

MARN is committed to being an anti-racist, equitable, and accessible arts non-profit. We will continue standing with our Black, Indigenous, Latinx, AAPI, and POC communities, and all those fighting for racial justice. We denounce white supremacy and do not tolerate racism at any level of our organization. This commitment is an ongoing process of self and community accountability, learning, and embracing the growth that comes from this learning.
Listening to our community members and amplifying their voices is a vital part of this ongoing learning and growth process. One of our community members and consultants, Jenie Gao shares her thoughts on what solidarity and coalition building means when facing the division that white supremacy creates.
“This is what will destroy the virus of white supremacy: coalitions of diverse people who are collective in their solidarity, and individually strong in their Identities. Our ability to honor nuance, to love complexity, to share space with difference. That is how we win.”
