MARN was pleased to present Milwaukee’s Biggest Gig, an exhibition in celebration of Summerfest and their Vice President of Entertainment, Bob Babisch’s legacy that ran from June 18 to July 16, 2022 in the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB. This exhibition showcased a collection of signed memorabilia and artifacts, photographs, t-shirts, and posters, offering a glimpse into the long history of Summerfest and those involved.
Summerfest presented by American Family Insurance is Milwaukee’s cornerstone celebration of the summer, hosting musics’ biggest acts for an unforgettable live music experience. In 2022 alone, Summerfest featured over 1,000 performances! The eclectic lineup at Summerfest is unmatched among festivals worldwide.
“Older than Woodstock, Summerfest has been hosting big names and bigger crowds since 1968,” – Rolling Stone.
Some of the biggest bands that have played over the last five decades include: The Rolling Stones, Prince, Paul McCartney, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Petty, Whitney Houston, Kenny Chesney, Bruno Mars, Sting, Aretha Franklin, and hundreds of more.
After 46 years of booking the world’s top acts, Bob Babisch transitioned from his full-time gig with the organization to a consultant in the Summer of 2022. This exhibition invited visitors to join in celebrating Summerfest and Bob’s legacy.
The exhibition was highlighted on 4 channels: CBS, Fox 6, WISN, and OnMilwaukee.
The exhibition coincided with the 2022 Summerfest weekends (June 23-25, June 30-July 2, and July 7-9). During which, MARN was honored to be able to award active community members with complimentary tickets supplied by Summerfest.
During the exhibition, MARN hosted the Summerfest Tech 2022: Pitch Competition and panel on NFTs and Cryptocurrency on June 30 from 8AM to 11:30AM at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB. This event was attended by over 150 community members!
