Brad Anthony Bernard is an Associate Professor of Art at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and for over 25 years has established himself as a an exhibiting artist, muralist, and educator in the city of Milwaukee. Bernard graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and the University of Mississippi, Oxford having received a Bachelor of Fine Art and Master of Fine Arts, respectively.
He founded and the Community Arts & Funk Festival which showcases local and regional urban visual/performing art talents and organizations that serve to promote arts awareness and education to the greater Milwaukee community.
Recently he has been the driving force in developing the ‘Westview Mural Tour’ in partnership with Near Westside Partners and the Vliet Street Business Group as part of a neighborhood beautification initiative located in the emerging eastbound Vliet Street business corridor.
Bernard has worked in a variety of 2D and 3D media as well as various subjects in his work ranging from symbols of identity, culture, and geographic location, conventional portraiture, and murals, to abstract forms representing the industrialization of human behavior, sexuality, and spiritual phenomena.
