As a local artist, Whitney is onboarding as the MARN MARKETPLACE Manager and is excited to connect with guests over work from Milwaukee creatives. Whitney believes art is a vehicle for community, providing perspectives to connect patrons through conversations.

After pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree at MIAD for Illustration and a minor in communication design, she has called Milwaukee home for over a decade. While she does work with traditional mediums, Salgado mainly utilizes digital painting programs to create surrealist mental health portraits that focus on emotions and identity. Her art style is heavily influenced by Art Nouveau, pop art, and the rich color palettes found in Mexican culture.

Salgado has worked as a freelance illustrator and as an Associate Manager at Blick Art Materials. She has been an active member in Latinas Unidas en los Artes (LUNA) and has collaborated and created work for local organizations such as the Milwaukee Short Film Festival, the Milwaukee Public Museum, the Racine Zoo, Riverwest Femfest, Latino Arts, Inc., Milwaukee Magazine, and Sixteenth Street Community Health.
