Thank you to everyone who joined us for the “In Transit” Tom Voyce Artist Talk June 19, 2022 at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB.

MARN was pleased to host this event produced in coordination with the League of Milwaukee Artists (LMA) and artist May Klisch.

The evening commenced with an artist talk by internationally renowned artist Tom Voyce who shared his tools, process, and progression in his practice. Participants were encouraged to flip through his sketchbook as well as handle his painter’s wedge and hard edge tool. The formal presentation was followed by a question and answer session moderated by local artist and League of Milwaukee Exhibition Chair May Klisch. Attendees were encouraged to mingle and meet Tom Voyce and enjoy a complimentary beverage from MARN as the event winded down.

A small collection of Voyce’s paintings were displayed during the event prior to their ultimate exhibition at En Pointe Gallery and Gift.

Tom Voyce (b. 1989) is a British painter whose subject matter comprises of a variety of different themes such as interiors and semi abstracted landscapes, often within the notion of place and transit. The artworks consistently demonstrate an interest in the formal elements of composition: structure, perspective, shape, and light. The strength in these pieces lies not in their faithful depiction of a landscape, but in their suggestion of a sense of place, of being present within a particular space at a particular moment.

Voyce competed and won the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in 2017. Watch the finale episode here:
