This program has connected many artists in the common goal of nurturing and promoting creativity. I experienced the open and welcoming community through events and a meaningful yearlong dialogue with my mentee.
It has been an absolute joy to get to know everyone and get behind the mission of supporting your community and coming together for a common goal of the Milwaukee art scene.
I feel mentoring other artists is important. Others have mentored me and it has helped my career: I want to give my insight so the mentee’s career can grow.
I enjoy watching mentees grow and learning from them and other mentors as well, and I believe it helps grow the art community and important ways.
I continue to mentor because the true value in the program rest with the range of professional mentor/artists and the years of experience they bring to the table.
I have really enjoyed the people I have met and gotten to know better through the (MARNmentors) program. Fun opportunities to connect with other artists. It feels good to share ideas, experiences and encouragement with other artists.
I have been involved with MARN for several years, it has been so meaningful to see artists thriving, and to watch our programs growing. We are excited to expand capacity in our new space in the Historic Third Ward. We are serving and supporting our communities in a variety of ways. Art and creativity are paramount to the success of a successful culture. Milwaukee is an Art City, MARN is fueling its creatives!
What’s the saying, ‘every hello ends up with a million possibilities’, and it’s sort of like MARN has that introduction for you to say hello to this network of people and to have that organization is everything, it’s a phone book of artists.
The community here at MARN is really a wonderful place to share ideas, to learn from other people, to broaden the practices…
I applied because I knew if I really wanted to develop as a visual artist I would need to take that self-initiative and take that step into whatever the unknown is.
The biggest thing is that when you enter the MARNmentors program is that you can emerge a very different person.
It’s more about being a visual artist and less about being put in a box… it’s more of collaborating with other artists, more importantly being able to work with MARN itself as an organization itself to fulfill the goal of inspiring others.
