About MARN:
MARN is a membership-based nonprofit organization, created by artists for artists, with over 550 members. Our brick-and-mortar location offers a unique cultural experience in Milwaukee, featuring a café, full bar, curated art gallery, artist marketplace, and conference room. Café Associates are key in providing exceptional hospitality and service to both members and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and memorable experience.
Position Overview:
The Part-Time Café Associate will take food and beverage orders, process payments, and serve food and beverages while offering tailored recommendations based on MARN’s menu. This role involves working behind the bar, interacting with guests, and occasionally stepping outside to serve in outdoor areas during the summer season. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about customer service and have a genuine interest in MARN’s exhibitions, programming, and the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service with a positive and welcoming attitude.
Take orders, prepare, and serve a variety of beverages (coffee, tea, cocktails, beer, wine, etc.) and food items behind the bar.
Handle transactions, operate the POS system, and ensure accuracy in cash and card payments.
Step outside to engage with guests in outdoor areas during the summer season, offering support and enhancing their experience.
Maintain detailed knowledge of MARN’s food, beverage, wine, beer, and cocktail offerings to make targeted suggestions.
Stay informed about MARN’s current exhibitions, programming, and events to share information with guests.
Assist with café, bar, and outdoor setup, maintenance, and cleanup.
Follow Wisconsin bartending and food handling laws and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Work collaboratively with the café team and MARN staff to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience in the food and beverage industry, preferably in a café or bar setting.
City of Milwaukee-issued Bartending and ServSafe licenses are required.
Knowledgeable about wine, beer, cocktails, and café offerings.
Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment while providing attentive customer service.
Comfortable stepping outside to assist with summer outdoor operations.
Strong communication skills, with an interest in the arts and MARN’s mission.
Flexible part-time availability, including evenings and weekends.
A self-starter with a problem-solving attitude and a team-oriented approach.
Compensation:
Pay is based on experience and certifications.
