  • Marn Art + Culture Hub 191 North Broadway Milwaukee, WI, 53202 United States (map)

Did someone say book club?

The MARN Artist Book Club led by MARNmember and local artist, Carley Knight, is a place for like-minded creatives to meet monthly and discuss texts that foster understanding of what it means to be an artist today.

The MARN Artist Book Club will meet for the second time on Wednesday, January 11th starting at 5:30 PM at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB (191 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI).

Carley will lead a discussion on Lisa Congdon’s book “Find Your Artistic Voice.” Congdon’s work focuses on the process of self-discovery as an artist, which Congdon explores via interviewing several creatives about their process and product.

This conversation is FREE and open to the public. Please RSVP on our Calendar.

Arrive early and tour the current exhibition, explore the offerings of the MARN MARKETPLACE, and grab a treat from the cafe.

See you soon bibliophiles!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

An artist’s unique voice is their calling card. It’s what makes each of their works vital and particular. But developing such singular artistry requires effort and persistence. Bestselling author, artist, and illustrator Lisa Congdon brings her expertise to this guide to the process of artistic self-discovery. Featuring advice from Congdon herself and interviews with a roster of established artists, illustrators, and creatives, this one-of-a-kind book will show readers how to identify and nurture their own visual identity, navigate the influence of artists they admire, push through fear and insecurity, and appreciate the value of their personal journey.

ABOUT CARLEY:

Carley Knight is an abstract fiber artist living in Milwaukee, WI. Her work explores many themes including: connection, mental health, and tradition.

Carley is also an avid reader. Growing up she would get in trouble for reading books in class. She has long wanted to start a book club for fellow artists where they gather to discuss what it means to be an artist today and the contemporary art world through reading a mix of more philosophical and practical books.
