MARN is pleased to present Forever In A Day, an exhibition running July 22 to August 14, 2022 at the MARN ART + CULTURE HUB chronicling local artist Rakim Wil’s photography career, sharing a glimpse of what’s to come for the emerging creative. The exhibition showcases stunning portraits, often shot within the inner city, that preserve a moment in time through Wil’s lens. Wil selected photographs that he feels are a reflection of himself, and all of us, in many ways.
Zooming in on Milwaukee as well as cities around the country, Wil aims to highlight the African diaspora while showcasing his unique shaded and sometimes saturated style.

About the Artist: Rakim Wil is a self taught interdisciplinary designer, musician, and photographer who lives and works in Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s North Side. Starting his practice as a child, Ra immersed himself in the juxtaposition of his classic art education from Milwaukee College Prep and his family’s obsession with Black culture. Growing up, Ra was immediately influenced by the trauma and beauty of his environment, forced to question his role and what to do with and/or about it. He began taking photographs of the environment and himself as a means to freeze time and understand our world as we pass by it so easily. Induced by classic Black images in his culture, Ra found a love for portraits of others and pronouncing their stories. Today, he is driven by cultural sonics and textures, imagery and feng shui. Rakim Wil cherishes the day.
